ul|ti|mo|bran|chi|al body or ul|ti|mo|bran|chi|al gland «UHL tuh moh- BRANG kee uhl»,
a small organ near the thyroid glands of most vertebrates, believed to be derived from the last of several embryonic pouches of the gills or pharynx. It secretes a hormone that regulates the level of calcium in body fluids.
